I read on CBC that a local couple was involved in a terrible car accident in Colombia.

Yes, a Go Fund Me has been set up, but that's not why I am sharing this article. I have met this family: they are all wonderful hard-working people, very strong in their faith, and such a close-knit family. I know they would appreciate prayers for Rosa and Hector's recovery and speedy return to Brandon.

Donated yesterday very sad, trip was a gift from their kids.

My husband used to work with him. Terrible situation... Any kind of medical emergency while on vacation is tough but this takes the cake. I have shared the go fund me link on my own Facebook because this will financially drain them.

Here's an article from a newspaper in the region. Not as much details as the cbc article, but it does confirm the date and location of the accident.  
 
Also in the cbc article, they mention that Canadian officials are aware of the accident.  
 
Understand the concern about the potential for a scam, but strong evidence suggests that it is legit (also knowing the family in question, I can 100% vouch for them)

Just had a look at the go fund me page and the monetary goal has risen to 150 thousand from 25.  
 
I hope things are not gotten worse for the family.

The update on the Go Fund Me page says that the cost to bring Rosa home is around 50 thousand. That's likely why the increase. But I see that the goal is 48 thousand, not 150. I imagine a medi-vac (air ambulance) flight is needed, rather than just a regular flight.

I see the amount was reduced to 48 thousand but if the Mom needs to be medi-vac'ed that won't be enough would it?  
Tough situation to be in and I hope that the patient has a doctor here that could help with possible arrangements.
