Hi all,  
 
Someone dumped a mattress in my back yard and I was away for the last month in Europe visiting sick family.i came back and found a summons for 200 bucks but only 100 if I pay it early,  
 
My neighborhood seems to have lots of these winners that always seem to be giving me problems. I can say I seen this mattress in my back lane for a long time and someone went while I was away and threw it onto my back yard by the back lane.  
 
My question is do I have any leg to stand on and how can I dispute this?  
 
I was given written notice during the time I was away but did not know until today when I returned.

proof that you were in Europe at the time they wrote the ticket.

Why are you being ticketed if it is on your property.I don't think I would be paying no amount if it is in my yard.I would put it back in the lane where it came from.

she already has a ticket to deal with.  
 
Putting it in the back lane, will not take away her ticket.  
 
Show them the information that you were away.

I had a similar situation a few years ago, with old tires dumped in the lane behind my house. I contacted the city and explained that they were not my tires and someone else had left them. They came and picked up the tires and cancelled the fine. Would suggest your first step would be to contact the city and explain the situation and then go from there.

If so call BPS 729 2345 and leave a message for the bylaw officer to call you back. Then you can explain why you shouldn't have to pay for the ticket.
