If she wants to be dropped off initially, I agree, I will always park in a normal spot but if she wants to walk in from the parking lot, I park in the handicap spot for her. Many times it's backed up in front of the store with pick ups and drop offs so the spot is actually closer. She has the handicap placard for a reason, so I see no reason she can't use it, even if someone else is with her.
I know I'm not the only one that feels that way as I've seen many groups of people exiting a vehicle from a handicap spot that do have a placard where only one person has a visible disability.
