My Dad moved to Brandon 1 year ago, and lives on his own. He doesn't do much but go for the odd coffee. I'm not looking to set him up but I want to know where someone in there late 50's goes to meet other late 50 year olds that aren't going to ever get social media aps or go on dating sites!

I've been to the Legion in Brandon for their Friday/Sat. meat draws and found the members to be very friendly. They also have suppers which are always very tasty.  
It's a nice welcoming atmosphere where you can just walk in and not appear to be looking to get set up.  
Believe the Army & Navy is much the same.

Is a centre where older adults gather for games, exercise and other activities I believe!

on ebrandon. there is a dance on this weekend. and forever young are hosting one the following week. its not listed yet as they only list one week in advance on this site.  
 
what are his interests maybe there is an event coming up or a local group that do things he enjoys.  
 
you have missed the car shows for the year but that might have been an interesting thing to take in. there are gardening clubs that meet throughout the year. there is genealogy. there is the library who have a webpage with events too.

There are quite a number of older people, male and female, who aren't social butterflies, but enjoy spending a little time with others. PM me if you think your dad would like to meet some of us.

Your dad is very lucky to have a daughter (or son) like you. You're very thoughtful.

Im a member. Your dad would feel very welcome there. They have a lot going on and if he really likes it he can even help out with a lot of the things they do and really get involved.

Don''t know if you noticed but you can changed the date at the top of the Events page and see what is coming up.

Just maybe Dad is happy with things as they are.  
 
I know that I'd resent my children imposing a social life on me that I wasn't looking for..., unless I;d specifically asked them.  
 
And as for social media; The OP implies that unless you're on-line and cyber connected, then you're not fully participating in modern society. Cripes.  
 
And late 50's is actually young, he would have grown up with the first wave of computers and matured into the first wave of social media.  
 
Give Dad a break. Offer options. And then let him live his life
