Just received a warning that my credit card has been frozen pending my sending updated information to a sketchy address  
 
IT IS A SCAM DO NOT SEND ANYTHING  
 
If you receive a text like this ,remember,  
IT IS A SCAM DO NOT SEND ANYTHING  
Report it to police and delete it.  
DO NOT SHARE YOUR BANKING INFO.

Can you elaborate.  
 
How did you receive the warning?  
Who did the recipient claim to be?  
 
But absolutely, generally speaking never share banking or personal information in response to an unsolicited text message or email and treat links in text messages or emails with the utmost caution.The anti-fraud centre goes as far as advising to not click on links in any text messages:

If the message comes across as being from a large company that you do business with, rather than use any contact information in that message if unsure Google their support number and call the support number thats displayed on the Google search result for the company's official website.

it comes from your own cell number and the scam is about a capitol one credit card i dont even have

I got the same text today - it appeared as if it was from my own number, said my Capitol One credit card was frozen. I don't have a card with them. I also got one the other day from 'my' number, saying there was a problem with my Manitoba Hydro account. Again, our hydro isn't in my name, and they don't have my cell number. I deleted both.

If the message says "capitOl one" like 2 of you posted it's definitely a scam.  
It's "capitAl one".

I got 2 of these. One from capital one and be other from Manitoba hydro acting as my own cell number.

I received two messages like this yesterday. They do appear to come from your own cell number, and no I don't have this credit card either.

Just wondering if anyone is getting these texts from a carrier other then bell/mts?
