Fishing opens May 12th right? I’ve been seeing people fishing down at the parks almost every day. Am I wrong about when the season actually opens and are there actually any problem with fishing before season begins?

It’s annoying to see, starting to feel like I’m the only one waiting.

You can fish trout right now - although, unlikely in the river here.

Season actually opens May 11.

You have to read the fishing guide.

You can only fish certain bodies of water stocked with trout at any time of the year.

You may dip net for certain species of fish any time of the year.

You must have an angling licence and adhere to possession limits if you are not exempt.

The fishing guide can be found online by googling MB 2019 Angling Guide.

I wondered the same thing until I pulled into the park. There were Aboriginal people fishing off the dock.
