Who has adopted from another country? I am looking into UAS and have many questions. How long is the wait time? What is the cost? Is it difficult to adopt? Are there any other programs beside UAS? Thxs

I don't have any info for you but I thought I'd just say:

There might still be a place in Minnedosa that does this. Sorry I don’t remember the name currently.  
 
Years ago we decided to try the adoption route after failed attempts at getting pregnant. We looked into international adoption and at that time a lot of countries were “closed”. I forget why. Some were quicker than others but a lot required expensive travel, multiple trips and long extended stays. To top it off it was going to be a minimum of $30,000 for most.  
 
We decided to contact child and family services instead. We started the process, took the courses, and were in the part of needing to do a family album to show potential birth mothers. That’s when I ended up pregnant and we discontinued the process to give others a chance of getting picked sooner. We only paid $100 for what we had done and the final price would have depended on the child - they have a list of factors that determine if it is free or not. Healthy infant will cost. Length of time was determined by what criteria you say you want and then how long it takes a birth mother to pick you.  
 
This was over 10 years ago so possibly things are much different. Hope that info helps.

Adoption is a wonderful option. There are so many children in foster care here that need a loving home. Adopting locally might seem hard but try fostering first and then adopt the child(ren) you connect with that don’t have plans for reuniting.

This place is in Winnipeg and handles international or local adoption I believe. The place in Minnedosa is closed. We've adopted but we went through CFS in Brandon.

We started the process through AO as well, but never completed due to change of circumstance. Our experience with them was positive. I would highly recommend going to their information sessions to find out more.

I know a couple of people who has fostered (to adopt) a child and the process is difficult. Years later and you still cannot adopt through court for certain reasons

Winnipeg (Options for Adoption)

Anyone who has any experiences, please respond. UAS is Eastern European and Adoption Options seems to have little options and their website has not been updated. Anyone who has adopted, how did you raise money? Fundraisers? or was there any programs to apply for? I am just exploring my options and thank you everyone

I remember long time ago seeing a poster for Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption displayed in the Wendy's Restaurant her in Brandon.  
Not sure how it works, but you could probably contact them if you are thinking on adopting a kid here in Canada that needs a family.

You could start a go fund me page if you can’t afford the fees. It’s going to be a costly process adopting overseas so unless you have the money it won’t be an option.  
 
Go talk to CFS. They have free adoptions based on certain criteria.  
 
Why not call the place you are inquiring about and talk directly to them instead of looking at their website it it’s not updated
