Just a heads up to folks in the area, my partner and I just got back from a walk in the Brandon Cemetery in the south end (about 4pm) and there were two men there that are looking to start a fight or something. Flagged our attention and then one started screaming accusations that we were staring at them and being racist (?). It was completely bizarre. We just walked away without engaging, but people might want to be on the lookout if they're there.

You contacted Brandon Police and informed them about these two. There are lots of people that going walking there., lots by themselves.  
Giving police heads up would be good idea.

thought about it but didn't want to pull out our phones and escalate things. I doubt the police would do anything anyway, the cemetery is patrolled by Paladin security. Might give them a call.

Two grown men, probably high or drunk, trying to pick a fight with incent bystanders, Ya the police wouldn't do anything about it....WOW. I'd be interested in what it was that make you think the police are not interested in protecting the community?

or at least were in the safety of your vehicle of course you should have phoned police! Who knows what state of mind these 2 guys were in? Impaired be drugs or alcohol no doubt.  
There are lots of seniors who walk in the cemetery and not every one carries a cell phone if they need help ASAP!  
All the cemetery staff are finished work at 4 too so there would be no one to assist if someone needed help.  
So, YES, next time you witness an incident like the one you described PLEASE call the police.  
All over this city there are questionable people walking and acting strangely. Just witnessed two on my street yesterday acting weird.

This is why I hesitated to bring it up on this forum at all. Firstly, they were not intoxicated in any way I could see. Secondly my experience with police is that unless someone is in immediate danger they tend to have more urgent things to deal with. Other than shouting random obscenities at us they made no move towards us (believe me, if they had I would have immediately called 911). By the time we were in a position where we were out of sight they were probably long gone from that location. My purpose in posting was to give a heads-up to anyone who might be heading to the area, not to get jumped on by by the community of eBrandon holier-than-thous.

you did state that the men were confronting you. If not intoxicated by any substance but they're still acting that way, like you said looking for a fight, then that's even more concerning!  
I stand by what I said about calling the police. There are so many strange characters around the city, every week on the police report someone is caught with a machete hidden down their pants or bear spray in their pocket.  
Especially call not because you yourself wasn't worried but there very well could have been someone walking in the cemetery who doesn't carry a cell phone, they do exist you know, people who don't use cell phones.  
Just common sense, not holier-than-thou.

Phone the police ,even if they don’t get there right away ,not everyone reads these posts before heading out for a walk .Glad you got to walk away without an incident .

AGORA, don't pay too much mind to the unnecessarily aggressive replies. I think you did completely the right thing.  
 
Doesn't sound like any reason to involve police.

Too many “regular” ebrandoners on here that would call the cops instantly for any reason, on their neighbours because of fire pit smoke, or anything else that offends them.

Lmao, delivery drivers using their driveways, panhandlers, people who don't let you merge on 18th St.  
 
The list is pretty long of the familiar gripes that some would involve police with.

used to check out the cemetery overnight however I'm not sure that they still do. So they wouldn't be able to help anyone out in the daytime.  
 
That's what the police are for, "to serve and protect".

Why would anyone call police for fire pit smoke? Police don't extinguish fires.
