we are living in the west end of town. and having a real problem with small very aggressive bugs/flies? they are not mosquitos. just has wondering if any body else has these bugs and how to get rid of them.

Nasty biting suckers. Last time I think they were this bad was 2014(?)
A couple threads from that year below. Most common reference to them was sand flies. I want to say that it didn’t last long that year and that there might be a connection to river flows?

Some suggestions within including picking up a bug net to wear…

Eaves on a 2 story house

While I vacuum the eaves yesterday I notice on the ones that had a bunch of sludge. The little black flies where flying about as I cleaned them.

They're brutal this year. They've tried to fly into my ears while working a few times and if it were within my power I would use the might of Zeus to smite them from the face of the earth. And mosquitos.

Maybe I’m seeing what I want to see, but seem better in my part of town so far this am. Granted Mosquitos showing interest in filling the vaccuum…

Yes, pesky indeed: can't even enjoy sitting on balcony, as they're in your eyes, ears, and in general , swirling all around.
In south west end.
So far, no bites, just down right .pesky.
