… There’s no place in a diverse and inclusive community for messaging that spreads intolerance and hate. Promise I can take down anything I happen to come across about as quickly as you can put them up.
Looks like a pretty significant new batch put up over the past few days at at least a couple of completely separate spots within the area. Would be interesting to see if anyones security cams happen to catch who puts time into spreading this kind of stuff!

I am a firm believer in live and let live. Everyone grows up with a different set of values, life experiences. None of us have the right to judge another person. Freedom of expression is a right in Canada but that does not include the right to spread hate, intolerance and oppression. You can live your life as you see fit but you do not have the right to hurt another person. That is just wrong!

The issue of vandalism with sticker, paint , graffiti and tagging needs to be addressed in Brandon . Attached are some examples of removing tags from infrastructure.

The question I would like to put out there, to get peoples opinion on ,is when this happens to some ones residential home, commercial property or commercial infrastructure ( light standards, green hydro and bell/mts metal boxes) who is responsible for removing it and who should pay the cost to remove it. How quickly should that be done?

The City of Brandon is launching a program for the downtown for commercial and residential people hit by vandalism . They will be paying for all or a portion of the cost to remove it.

With the election coming up it would be interesting to hear from candidates and future mayor on the topic and suggested solutions to address the issue in the entire city.

I guess I got a different take on vandalism when we were in Europe and saw some neighbourhoods blanketed in it. It does deface nice buildings and infrastructure, we're much better off with as little of it as possible and there needs to be accountability when someone's taking part in it. There's precedent for it being discouraged when it can be painted over quickly. Still, where it does gain a little bit of a hold at least when it comes to messaging I've found that with 99.9% of it I have no clue what they're trying to say.

In this case we're talking more in the realm of propaganda for an in significant minority ideology that brings out some of the worst in humanity slapped up at common places where people of all ages have to deal with it. One right at the entrance to a common recreational area, a bunch of others on poles in a residential area. Not necessariily even put up by anyone local. At least the round of stickers put up over the past few days are fresh and peel off like nothing!

What group of people are the hateful messages directed towards? I ask only so that if I'm to come across any stickers that we can be more certain that they were put up by the same person(s).

They are promoting hate and intolerance. That is all we need to know. Regardless of who the target is we should all make a habit of pulling these stickers down and destroying them.

If you're going to destroy these stickers, first report them to the cops otherwise you won't be accomplishing anything as these idiots won't be held accountable and will just keep putting up their stickers.

If you want these people to be held accountable, it would be very relevant to the cops to know what the stickers look like and what type of message (without being overly specific) they contain so that we can be more certain that the same party is involved. Having these people face accountability should be our end goal. Simply removing a sticker might seem like a good gesture, but doing that and nothing else won't solve anything.

Anyway, I hope these people are caught, regardless of whatever hateful message they're trying to spread.

The way your first post read was asking what was on the stickers to be posted here on eBrandon. My response was stated to avoid giving these people a venue where their offensive messages are discussed here on eBrandon.

your second post I totally agree with. Notify the police.
