The other often overlooked aspect of a coop is the retirement age/moving out of trading area cashing in of your lifetime equity.
I'm not sure what that number would look like for the average person, but I've had one person say their payout was 5 figures, but they might have had big agro purchases so its hard to say what the actual number might be for a food and gas shopper, its probably something the admin staff could tell you if asked, I might try that today just to see.
That's also never brought up when people are debating Westman Comm vs Bell/Mts, with Westman being a co-operative with payouts and lifetime equity.
And as Primeconvoy stated, your neighborhood coop definitely doesn't have some billionaire CEO/family at the helm, which can't be said for walmart, sobeys, superstore, etc
