Did anyone else get a recent visit from Apx Alarm company? It seemed a little fishy to me when this guy came to my door last night, assuring me that he was not selling anything but only advertising. Several things that he said sent up red flags for me while I listened to his speech. He offered to come in and hook up his alarm system to my pre-existing system at no charge. At no point in our conversation would he tell me how much it would cost to sign up for his alarm security system, instead making me feel like what he was offering was completely free. And when we asked him for his name he gave us someone else's name. When I asked him how to spell the last name he said he wasn't sure as it wasn't his name.  
 
I was surprised when he said he was from Winnipeg, as he obviously knew nothing about this area, commenting on how cold our winters are here.  
 
The salesperson was nice enough and obviously knew the right things to say but I can't say I believed him. And as my children ran into the room to see who I was talking to he pulled out pictures of his family that he had taped to his case to prove he also had a family. It seemed very set up.  
 
When questioned about his company, he told us that they had already installed 70 systems today and over 400 last week, in Brandon! This immediately let us to believe they were a scam and prompted us to check them out on the internet. We found SEVERAL sites that suggest they are an actual company but are very shady and have even been banned in some areas.
