Hey ya'll! So I've been blessed with becoming a bridesmaid for my very best friend, woot woot! So I'm wondering about social prizes! Who donates in Brandon? What do you need when asking companies? Thank in advance!

Stick to the companies you & the rest of the wedding work for. Also maybe family or friends. Companies don't usually contribute.

Shop the sales and by your own.

When my best friend got married, every member of the wedding party contributed a prize. Most businesses don't do that unless someone a) works for them or b) knows them somehow. It's best to round up bridesmaids and groomsman and decide which each of you would like to get. Some examples are: movie night (free pizza, DVDs, popcorn.. Etc) lotto tree, night out, kids themed, camping themes.. Etc. Watch for superstores "free" things too.

Stick with your own circle. Best advice.  
 
Actually back in the day, they had little prizes...arms length tickets raised a pile of dough. Or they raffled off a Texas Mickey. No TV's, ipads or groveling for gifts/

Sounds like you may be offended? Can't tell but the last comment seems defensive. Anywho.. If you can find businesses willing to contribute then all the best to you. I know some see it as grovelling, others may not.. Which is completely fine. The best thing to do is just try to take care of things in your control and help out as much as you can, I'm sure the bride and groom will appreciate all efforts regardless!

Yeah, not sure why a business would donate prizes to a random couple they've never heard of. Most places only donate social prizes to fundraisers and weddings don't qualify. It's best to just get the wedding party or possibly family members to buy the gifts for the social than to ask companies to donate them, you'll have better luck.

if you are a regular customer. For example, if you just purchased a vehicle, ask the dealership to donate something. If you just sold or bought a house, ask your realtor. I did up a few letters for businesses we supported and dropped them off. It was easy and looked professional. Some donated and some didn't.  
I agree that the best way is to get family and friends to donate something. Donations from businesses should be more directed towards charity events.

Some businesses will donate because it is relatively inexpensive advertising but over the years this has slowly changed as most don't really see a return on their donation.  
 
Socials have lost a lot of what they were really for. Now they are nothing more then money makers. If you want to make money do as others have said buy your own prizes and raffle them off.

A good prise us buy a picture frame & fill it wit different scratch tickets. Have seen this at quite a few events... & always buy a ticket on it...lol

Our own stuff and members of wedding party donated too. We had a couple of donations but that's it.

Sometimes the businesses that you are involved with for the events will help out with a donated prize! We generally provide a donated prize when someone books a social/wedding with us, as a way of saying thank you for the business!
