We live in the West end and my vehicle as well as my huband's vehicles got broken into on Friday night. They didn't take anything, basically just took everything out of our consoles and threw it around the vehicle.  
Our vehicles were both 100% locked and our windows weren't broken so I'm not sure how they got in.  
We called the cops and they said there was not much they can do considering nothing was stolen.  
We went outside this morning and my husband's truck was broken into again. Once again nothing was missing, just our stuff thrown all around the truck.  
Has anything else had this problem?

With the lack of sketchy pawn shops in town now people just rummage through cars for the easy steals  
 
Change, lottery tickets, sunglasses and iPods.  
 
I caught the one guy on my video camera in my neighborhood and he is fairly noticeable. Police did nothing about it, however he will be surprised next time he is in the area

This happened to me too.. There was name brand sunglasses, a $1000 cheque, mukluks, winning lottery tickets, smokes, probably $5 in change, an iPod, plus whatever other random stuff was in there. Nothing was taken, they just rummaged through and put everything on the seat. (Nothing gets left now)

So what are they looking for then? Strange!

That is exactly what happened to us, there were things they could've taken but did not take...just rummaged thru and left everything on the seats, its very strange!

Same thing happened to my sister!  
The entitlement of some people absolutly astounds me.  
I truly hope someone can stop these random acts.

We had our vehicles both ransacked a couple weeks ago with them taking the GPS,cell phone and more from my husbands and nothing from mine but glove compartment and everything left open to show they were there  
Then 4 nights after they broke our boat window  
The police did nothing  
I am sure they could pick up some fingers prints in some of these cases  
We are also in the west end

angry about the reoccurring theme here???  
I hear over and over again that the police say there is nothing they can do and it makes me so angry.  
The people doing this do it because they know they can!!!  
Stop worrying about speeding tickets and start worrying about people and their belongings.  
They forgot about the protect part and now they only seem to serve up tickets.  
Before everyone goes all crazy....my dad was a cop and came from a long line of cops. He would be disgusted as well.

I feel bad for the police in this situation because it is the Justice system that routinely provides zero consequences when these individuals are caught. I think it would be hard for most officers to not feel that catching these criminals was a waste of time. It takes the police and the courts to uphold the laws.

You are right it takes the police and the courts to uphold the law..... but..... it just takes the police to at least try and make life miserable for these criminals. Make it miserable enough or make it known that they know who you are and what you do and maybe just maybe...it puts a small dent in it.

Who said anything about doing nothing? Do you honestly believe the police do nothing in these cases?

When rummaging through my neighborhoods cars wasn't enough same people broke into my garage and 5 other people's in the linden lanes area cops showed up when it was called in, did nothing other than ask what was stolen. Didn't check the garage for any prints or anything.  
 
So basically they are implying us to take the law into our own hands with their impudence. I have lived in my house for almost a year and not once have I seen a cop car drive by on patrol. I never understood why they don't patrol the neighborhoods at night instead of cruising the main drags.

Who lifts fingerprints at a crime scene? Is it the officers or are forensic units brought in? In addition, does anyone know of any special criteria required before fingerprinting can be authorized?

Check the police reports on the bps website, there are SO many reports of cars having been gone through.  
 
I left my car door unlocked but remembered to lock it via key fob before I went to bed. In the morning i found it had been gone through. Pretty creepy to know someone was that close to the house while I was up watching tv.  
 
I reported it, and they said they are tracking the incidents and will increase police activity on the area.

how would you describe the guy you got on video. young punk kid? Adult??

Was a group of two possibly more older teenaged young adult sized. Definitely short dark hoodies

Kelcee....What you describe is the exact thing that has happened 3 times to our vehicles in the last month. everything rummaged through, strewn about the seats and floor, yet nothing taken. My husband had his cell phone and spare change. Cell phone moved to his seat and not taken. As well my purse (stupid I know) but moved to the back on the floor, yet it was intact. Weird!!!  
 
Also, when you said you had locked your vehicle...how interesting. Both times, I was convinced I hadn't locked the vehicles as there was no damaged entry. I am usually very vigilant about locking.

I am an insomniac. There are many eyes like mine that happen to be awake at odd hours. Neighbors included.

YES! Because that is what they continue to tell people. Read the posts......The repeated pattern is, we called and they didn't send anyone, we called and they said that there is nothing they can do.  
Sending someone out to at least have a look gives people the feeling of security in that at least they came to check. To say nothing can be done and not even send someone out does nothing to make a person feel that they are heard or protected.  
It does not even have to be a cop, it could be a representative on behalf of the police. Perhaps Brandon needs to adapt the same programs as other cities and have independant firms issuing tickets so that the police are free to look into break ins and other things.  
The solution is out there and it would be nice to find it before our little city finds out the dragon is too big to slay.

We were both positive both the vehicles were locked as on my husband's key fob it showed the lock symbol. I was talking to someone and they said apparently people have some type of machine to duplicate the signal of key fobs which allows them to get into the vehicle without the alarm going off, we were given the tip of locking our vehicles with our keys and apparently this can eliminate them doing that. On the down side of that if they are desperate enough they would just break the window to get in.  
The strangest part is nothing is being taken and it is weird that they had entered our vehicles twice in the same week.  
There were numerous other vehicles on the block and ours were the only ones to be entered.  
I do understand that cops have alot of important things to do, but it does make us feel unsafe that they aren't looking into this. My husband had asked someone to patrol the area so hopefully they do that.  
The people doing this are smart enough to know that they cops aren't being sent to check this out therefore they are getting away with it, and they will continue to do so. And eventually will probably become more brave and start breaking into sheds and garages and probably evenutally houses if they're getting away with it.

Perhaps we're going in the wrong direction with locking up our vehicles (sort of...). What if the greater majority of us empty out our cars (like if we were taking it in for work done at an garage), valuables, personal items, money and anything else that we would never leave behind... and flip the locks with the remote while the doors are not closed. Then "physically unlock" the door locks and close the doors, thus setting the factory security, but having the car unlocked.  
 
Just imagine... Car after car throughout the city, when these pukes climb in... they will set off the horn alarm under a minute after they open the door. Eventually they will get sick of opening "unlocked" cars, simply because there's nothing in them and then the need to scatter because of the bloody horn going off.  
 
If enough car owners did this practice, the problem will cure itself. ...Or we can just simple lock our cars, take our electronics in with us, keep only a quarter/loony for carts and park it under a motion light every single time before going to bed. The choice is ours.  
 
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.  
 
And kelcee>>> In regards of someone finding out your wireless code from you using your keyless FOB... Some food for thought... Your remote only has the range of a couple hundred yards at best... Therefore, it must be one of your neighbours pillaging though your vehicle, because they would be the only ones capable of obtaining the radio frequency while you're using it. I would be double-checking your doors every night and see if it happens again before jumping to conclusions that someone is entering this way. Because, I have doubts that someone with equipment like that would risk criminal charges for pocket change and useable phones.

Our vehicle was rifled through last night. I didn't notice until I went out tonight. Hope you thieves enjoy the outdated GPS that dies after 10 seconds on, losers!

Lady is on the front page of Bdn sun caught two of these parasites going through her vehicle at 3 in the morning. Police say it is all over the city. Hopefully we will get some descriptions of these pathetic stains and they will get caught  

Does your vehicle have no key? IE, you walk up to it with a fob and it just unlocks and you can start it ?
