I just received a phone call from 1-786-247-3444 from a person saying he is representing visa and mastercard. He said that because I pay my accounts on time he is authorized to give me a rate of 5 percent. I told him that my understanding is that visa or mastercard will not phone us directly to lower our rates, that we have to phone them and that I believe he is a scam. He then got very angry and said, okay then I will cancel your credit card. I told him to go ahead and do it. Please do not be sucked in by these people. I fear for the people that do. I will be phoning the fraud department at the RCMP about this. The person had a "slight" accent: but I couldn't detect where it was from, so it might have been overseas somewhere. I tried to call the number back, but there was no answer.

According to this website above and some other comments, this is supposed to be a Law Firm in Florida. Why would they phone us to lower our credit card rates, and why would they threaten to cancel our credit card accounts (especially angrily)!! This definately is a scam.

I don't pick up the phone unless it's family or friends. They know where to find me. Although I'd really like to play with the mindset of these scumbags, I'll always google the phone number. It's particularly sad if some people aren't aware. Always a good thing to post new scams to keep people aware.

I always answer and have some fun! It's entertaining. Especially the guys who call saying my Windows is sending error messages. We have a Mac.

Yeah, I got one too: kind of made me laugh, when he got agitated cause I didn't give him my credit card number DUH !!!. The accent was puzzling, slight but different

Have a Panasonic cordless landline that blocks up to a certain amount of your chosen numbers (25 or 50?). It's awesome and was an inexpensive purchase. I go through it and just keep blocking more and more. I flush out the old and add new.  
 
Would like to just play with these scammer clowns once or twice, but I'd like some suggestions.  
 
Just got a call the other day from my own landline number. Wanted to pick up and say"Hey! It's me! Is that you?"

I also have a Mac and get those calls. I keep them on the line a really long time asking questions. Finally they get fed up and hang up on me.
