But seldom do anyhow.I'm on the 1200 block on 1st Street & only hear it when windows are open & there's no wind or it's blowing in the right direction.  
I agree with a couple of others ~ we need an emergency siren; this sounds like an ice cream truck from the U.K!

If people shouldn't need to know the tone of each siren because they don't care, then what is the point of this whole discussion. The point is that people DO care, so therefore knowing the different sirens is important, and people should educate themselves on these things!

A few people on here are so dramatic, anything chance to complain!  
 
I kind of agree the siren is a waste of money. The thing goes off once a month. Nothing but a bunch of racket for 5 minutes. If something that requires the use of such a system I think most people are going to know somethings up before listening to the siren and good forbid it happens on a "test" Wednesday.

I think that any method of getting emergency notifications out there is not a waste of money, and to go to door to door, with pamphlets everytime they do a test is also a waste of employee time, and therefore money, since many people would likely disregard them, or just not see them. I think that radio information would have been beneficial, as it sounds like many people tune in when they hear the alarm, and I think that an ebrandon posting would also be great, since so many people check this! If people hear the alarm and immediately panic and don't bother to check any medium for information, then it doesn't matter what the city does, because the people won't check it anyways!

Make it simple? How much simpler could it get....one tone for danger, one tone for all clear. Two different tones, that's it.

Noticed the "this is a test" announcement that was read during today's monthly test. Imagine that will put the kibosh on any possibility for confusion!

I heard them announce it on the radio this morning that they would be testing the alarms today in Brandon.

I think we should be happy that we have such a system in place, especially if we were to have an emergency. These sirens could potentially save lives. Could you imagine if we had an emergency and didn't have any preventative measures put in place?

I see heard "this is NOT a test" (to which I started to freak out) and then the ok sirens sounded shortly after. And as an intelligent person that I am was able to put a few clues together...
