Probably filming of that Dennis Quaid movie.

Can someone post pictures, I want to see!!  
But I would rather not head down that way sounds like to much of a crowd for me

Now I want to eat Dairy Queen ice cream!!!

They closed off 800-1000 blocks of 18th street for a 5-10 second scene for "A Dog's Purpose".  
 
18th street was turned into small town in Michigan for short time. Traffic was blocked for 5 mins, then a take, then opened up to let traffic through. This was repeated about 8-10 times to get the takes and angles needed. Came to end at about 3:30pm.  
 
Dennis Quaid is not in Manitoba just yet. This was the scene with a dog crossing the road. Will have to wait till 2016 to see it, but it's supposed to be better than a "B" movie. Can't leak any info or pictures, unfortunately ;)  
 
There will be more shooting in Brandon, Virden, Minnedosa and Winnipeg, perhaps other local spots.  
 
It was fun to be a part of it. It's nice to see Brandon getting on the map for some positive publicity!

were they filming on Rosser Ave this morning too? Thought I saw a crew that could be a film crew.

My son and I watched them last night filming on 17th street east right in front of Koch. We saw the dog too. Looked kind of like a Golden Retriever but darker.  
I think my 5 year old was more impressed with all the police presence there, but I thought the filming was really neat.

It's a little ironic that the production named "A Dog's Purpose" is directed by a Swedish Director named 'Lasse'. pronounced "LAH-SEY". Possibly only a certain age might remember the famous dog named Lassie. Lol.  
 
Lasse Hallstrom was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director for My Life as a Dog (1985) and later for The Cider House Rules (1999). (Wiki)

They film in Virden this week too. Old cars from the 60-70 era. All parked in front of the stores down town with NEW names and some facelifts for the movie.

any idea if that's why mctavish is blocked off ?

They are shooting at a few locations around 14th & McTavish and 15th & McTavish. Several blocks of trailers and equipment, props, etc.

That trailer was the make-up, hair, and wardrobe one parked at the end of my block. No wonder my dog was so interested in that spot when I walked her - she could smell movie dog-star pee.  

We have Quaid, and I had Diary Queen ice cream last night!!

Just wondering ... I'd love for my daughter to catch a glimpse , as she's sure she'll be in town film industry when she grows up

I haven't seen any movie trucks around at all for the last couple days !
