It's still the law, even if there's no school . . .

I truly find it amazing that motorists continue to violate the 30km/hr through school zones during the week. Yes, we all no that the schools are closed for spring break and there are no students in the area. However, the signs are clearly posted "30km/hr 8:00 - 17:00 Monday - Friday September - June"
It does not have a "foot note" on the signs stating "except when there is a holiday or the school is closed?" A friend of mine was given a ticket for almost 800.00 for not slowing down to 60km/hr in a "workers area" on the highway - when there were no workers around after 4pm on a Friday(they had shut down for the weekend). The officer indicated, regardless if the workers were "off duty and not in the area - the signs were still posted and you would still be fined" So that being said, the signs are posted and you would not have any defense if you were to be ticketed either.
I was "obeying the law" while slowing down to 30 km/hr along 26th street by J.R. Reid school and some other motorist "honked" and passed me and "flipped the bird". So my advise is, obey the law and you won't get a ticket - it would be an ideal time for the BPS to "sit and wait for you"

Hmmmm?
