I've spent much less there since the shelves became enormous and high. I totally understand the training behind doing it, but I am one of the few (or many) who no longer enjoys shipping at that store because of it. I used to go in every single week during my Brandon trips, I've only been into Canadian tire in Brandon 3 times since Christmas, and only then to get exactly what I need from thenm as opposed to shopping around in the store.  
 
I wish good fortune to the owner, but unfortunately I no longer being then very much business because if the changes.

for me its nit the change that bothers me at all it is pearly shop-ability that i find went down with the change, i have family near other CT stores that have had this type of store model and i hated there too and would shop elsewhere when visiting, Brandon CT was one of my go to places before but i now stop only when i have too  
 
maybe the store is looking to exp=and but its not totally for us the customer as not to many stores are there just for our pleasure or to do us a favor, they are there to make money so they should be paying attention to the wants of the customer or they will go the way of Zellers, Kmart and target when someone else servicing the same market comes in

What they need to do is somehow add a second story. There's a two story Canadian Tire in Edmonton that just opened back in the summer and I think this could work in Brandon.

I found the previous store reorganization a little annoying only because I had to figure out where everything was all over again. This most recent change has made me stop going to the store altogether for all the reasons already listed. That store looks like it could be featured on an episode of one of those hoarding shows. I feel as though the $1000 lizards hanging from the ceiling is strong evidence that the new owner is out of touch with what consumers want these days.

To shop there, but I can't say for sure that the congestion will stop me entirely from going in. There are still many great deals that I enjoy. The thing I look forward to the most from the store is seeing who will be the person that spends $4000 on the giant bear. More importantly, I hope to be there on the day it is transported!

I was there today. I do agree with the fact that its harder to shop when you are constantly looking towards the ceiling to see the products. Even harder cause the lights werent working today haha. It also looked as though they were increasing the sales floor along the south wall? However, people will still go there. Maybe mention complaints to the manager in person? Im sure that will go farther than an EBrandon post.

I cannot say I like it alot but they are not done their work yet but still going.  
How about you talk to the owner before you whine, criticize, or complain and listen his idea/goal and understand the side of the whole package to own a business to make it work and then put yourself owning a business not to flunk but to succeed.  
As one said the owner is not doing it just for him only.  
I am not involve in it but I am guessing it took a lot of work for this and he seems to get hit over the head instead of a tap on the shoulder.  
Well you do better you people, just approach him with your best plan with the same amount of space he has to play with!

The question I would ask, is it against fire codes to have stock hanging from the rafters? Would all that stuff not interfere with their sprinklers?

I did send my complain in today, and after talking with others, I know I'm not the only one to do so. When I started the thread I hadn't even considered the dangers of having stock piled up so high. Now that I read all the replies, I do wonder how safe it is? I'm not against change, I am against not being able to walk in a store and try/compare any of the merchandise without having to wait 10 minutes for it to be lifted down. And as for the suggestion of looking online at their website, comparing products and the just walking in too buy it? That might work for a car battery, some garbage bags, maybe even a crock pot. But if I'm spending a thousand bucks on a treadmill or on a conversation patio set, I want to be able to try it first.

that few people that whine and complain and say they will shop elsewhere won't break them financially, as far as having stock piled high being dangerous? yeah its dangerous and if it falls, someone gets hurt, the amount that Canadian tire pays out in damages in a lawsuit is peanuts compared to what the stores bring in annually. Canadian Tire isn't a mom and pop store, it's a multi billion dollar franchise, not to mention the other businesses that they own like Marks Work Warehouse. If you don't like it don't shop there, simple easy plan. other people adapt and get over it and life still goes on.

You're right. You can look online, check stock and get the aisle number before you go to the store.

I no longer wander the aisles and make impulse purchases. I may go in for a specific item and then leave, hopefully with it. It may be the feeling of claustrophobia but elevators are okay. It is just a sense of being closed in, buried, so I leave as soon as possible.  

Now I want to go there and see what it's like! I usually only go there once or twice a year.

I still have not visited as I mentioned in my last post but I do take exception to your mom and pop shop thinking. k  
 
I know things have changed a tad in the last years so people can correct me. Some dealers(moms and or pops) are now allowed to own more than one store and I hate that.  
 
Yet unlike some big companies who have managers for their stores. Wal-Mart for one The CTC stores are like Home Hardware and Home building centers. locally owned and operated.  
 
Not sure about Home but in most if not all cases the tire owns the building land etc.  
 
The cost simply to order and pay for new stock is partially covered by grace periods like 90 days but eventually the dealer pays  
 
The fixtures are the dealers cost. Payroll etc .  
 
Yes the dealer owns/runs everything inside and he is a local now.Not sure if he his a pop running it with a mom or vice versa but it is a local as big companies can be.  
 
A tire store stocked and ran wrong can lose millions as easily as make it.  
 
This dealer has skin in the game. Like other dealers they all live in town/own/houses and are more than just community minded.  
 
One other point because of its weird share set up the dealers are as much in control of Canadian Tire as the Corporation.  
 
It never ever ever will be owned by a USA/Russian/Chinese/Ethiopian conglomerate.  
 
Unless the 400 plus dealers all sell along with the corporation. It may be a big company but it is Canadian. Not many left.  
 
 
Stock on the top is out of reach and boxed.  
 
Then again If peeved off waiting I would head over to the ladder section and use one to reach. If caught I would say just testing!

I love that place.

I still love shopping at CT and it doesn't bother me at all the high stocking of products. Makes it difficult to find my husband when we part ways shopping So many times we had to stand and wait for someone to go to the back and haul a product out. I am more than happy to see that what I want is there within reach. The last couple of times we have been there we have had plenty of sales people to help us get what we needed. It is a Canadian store. I will still shop it rather than Walmart and support CT.

What is up with the giant animal statues too?!? Is there actually a market for these?Am I missing out on a new ugly trend. And just in case you don't want to spend $500-$1000 on one of these things you can rent them :S Bring back the patio furniture displays
