Is their much difference between Briggs &Stratton and Kohler and Kawasaki? Looking at new rideon, have heard many different opinions of which might be better. Not very knowledgable about them. Would like to hear some of the pros and cons about some makes. Thanks

Briggs and Stratton probably your best bet. Kohler is okay. Don't know much about Kawasaki motors. I took a small engines course a couple of years ago at ACC and it was all about B & S.

All good engines. It mostly comes down to parts and service. Briggs being the easiest to find common service items. Koehler nearly as good. Kawasaki I/C way harder to find.

My old JD ride on is around 30 years old and the original Kawasaki motor still runs great. When I was still using it for grass cutting, it ran well, even though it was working fairly hard. It is only used as a utility "tractor" now to tow wagons for yard stuff, and works great for that.  
 
When I upgraded my mower to a new one, I made sure to get one with a Kawasaki engine in it. I fully expect it to last 20 plus years.  
 
Kawasaki has been around for years, but it isn't as well known as the BS motors. I haven't been concerned about parts because I haven't needed any.
