So, my house has hand foot mouth disease. My daughter came home with a fever on Tuesday, and by Thursday was covered in blisters. We saw the doctor and he confirm HFMD.  
 
Has anyone else had this recently? She's in an incredible amount of pain, and while the 3-year-old has gotten it, she seems to be not nearly as bad. My husband has come down with it now too, and is in excruciating pain in his legs even though no blisters have appeared yet. Two kids haven't even gotten it yet, and I've so far been symptom-free except I'm 35 weeks pregnant too (I've been assured it poses little risk to the baby).  
 
How long does this thing last????

I had this last summer when I was pregnant. Baby was fine. The first 3 days of the blisters were the worst. My hands and mouth were the worst. I ate a lot of popsicles. I stayed home for a week. Calamine lotion helped a bit. Took two weeks to fully go away. About a month after the blisters were gone my feet completely peeled (didn’t hurt). They say it’s worse as an adult. Good luck momma - this is the second worse illness I’ve ever experienced. It does get better though - like I said first three days of the blisters felt like on fire then each day after that the pain lessened.

My daughter got it last fall when she was 1 1/2. It was rough. She had a fever and also got the blisters it in her diaper region and the doctor prescribed cream for that area. I put the cream on all of her blisters where they looked really bad and it helped. She got some blisters in her throat. I gave her lots of popsicles and made her non acidic smoothies. I also got hand foot mouth. I didn’t get it as bad. I got a total of 10 blisters. I did have the fever and felt sick for about 5 days. I was definite not as sick as my daughter. It’s common to lose finger nails and toe nails a few weeks to a couple of months after. It didn’t hurt. This illness must have killed her nails and so when new nails grew it just pushed off her old nails. Didn’t hurt. She didn’t lose all of her nails. Just the odd one.

I got this 3 years ago from my nephew and passed it onto my husband. From start to finish ( fever to blisters starting go away ) was 3 weeks but my last blister finally disappeared about 7 weeks later. The most painful was the first 2 weeks
