one more thing.. said "Would it matter if there's a cluster of vehicles? People aren't gathering there to socialize. I guess it would be no different and definitely no bigger than the clusters of vehicles at the Tims drive thru on a weekday morning.
We've taken a drive around a couple of the houses that we know of that do it every year. The lit up house on Almond Crescent, the house off Park Ave between 26th and 34th (can't remember the street name) that has the lights to music, the house on princess east with lights to music and there's the light display the city puts on "waterfall of lights" down by the fire station/north 40
You literally can not stay locked away in your house all day every day. Especially with kids. I don't see anything wrong (or against the restrictions) with taking a drive around the city checking out the Christmas lights "
Doing my best to responsibly interpret the current orders, which were recently upheld re drive-in church gatherings. Definitely some differences to go along with the similarities between the two, but Red River Ex's drive thru light show actually had to be cancelled last month. I'm in no position to tell you what you should or shouldn't do with your kids, but made the assessment that based on the orders as they stand right now I don't want to go as far as making a map that will incentivize leaving home in greater numbers.
That said, since I posted this the topic of lineups for Xmas lights was actually brought up at yesterday's media briefing (sounds like it's been pretty crazy for some Winnipeg residential displays). It wasn't a totally 100% straight answer, but was said that lineups of people staying in cars for lights would be seen as lower risk as long as it's same-household people in the car. Sounded like more clear guidance is coming real soon with updates to the public health orders this week, something I'll watch for and may pivot accordingly.
