The Reason for the Season

Merry Christmas Brandon
Christmas is just around the corner, and it seems that we have another snow filled holiday season upon us. Christmas is a big event for most of us, and the lead up to it can no doubt be stressful for many, what with all of the shopping, gift wrapping, meal preparing and holiday decorating. But if you had a moment, I'd just like to ask us all to reflect upon the reason for the season.
Over 2,000 years ago Christians around the world believe that the creator of the universe, and the creator of the material that makes up each of us individually, that formed our individual souls took it upon himself to come down to the world and join us as human beings. His coming had been foretold for ages before and prepared for from the beginning of humanity. God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son to demonstrate His love for us, and so that we might know Him more fully.
In a manger because there was no room for Him, He was born. As humble a beginning as any King could have. He joined us as a child as delicate and vulnerable as any of us. He grew up and showed us the depth of God's love for us, and the meaning of suffering by suffering with us. He taught us how to live a Holy life, how to pray, how God is, and by rising from the dead He promised us the greatest gift man could ever hope for, an eternity of love, an eternity with God, our creator.
So I would ask you Brandon, for those who have turned against God, and for those who may have forgotten His love for You, to turn back to Him again. I would ask you to consider developing a relationship with God again. I would ask you to consider that there is a much greater meaning in this universe than a life built upon our own sense of pride and accomplishment. To remember Jesus' words, and in particular to remember those that He asked us to help out the most.
To quote our Lord and Saviour, from the Sermon on the Mount,
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn: for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, and I extend to you all my very best wishes.
