Making Wedding Invitations - Glue Help

I need a bit of help. I am making my wedding invitations and i need to attach ribbon down the one side of the cardstock. Any suggestions on what type of glue or double sided tape would work best? I need something that is gonna hold very well going through the mail & i don't want it to be visable through the ribbon.
