Home daycare/babysitting

i am just wondering what it takes to start a private home day care or in home babysitting. i am a new mom of a 6 week old boy and me not working isn't working for us financially. i am only looking to take in 2-3 kids just to give us that boost. i love working with kids. how much do most people charge >? we have a huge unused basement that is finished and carpeted. i figure we can use down there lots. i have lots of kids toys and plan to get more. any info would be greatly appreciated
