First let me correct you on your first sentence....This is not a new trend. How did you ever come to THAT conclusion? lol Thats like saying " I don't understand this new trend with telephones..what ever happened to a messenger on horse?" Wayy off base buddy.
There is nothing wrong with the health care system, there are just alot of options and to correct you for a second time...when you find out you are pregnant you are given the option of either a Midwife or an Ob/GYN both covered under Manitoba Health.
Both are great, it comes down to how YOU want YOUR birthing experience to be, and if you qualify for a Midwife.
I had no idea what a midwife was...then I did my research and educated myself and could not believe I had not known this before!
I had a midwife with my first child. I was lucky to have her, my boyfriend and my sister (as my birthing coach.)and I had an ideal labour/delivery natural and unmedicated.
Anyone with half a brain knows how much support a labouring woman needs and Doulas are another great resource. They are trained and certified birthing coaches.
Every woman is different and so are her needs and preferences. Labour and Delivery is a very personal, primal, natural event. How you choose to go about it is completely up to you.
I am thankful for all the health care providers out there.
Before you spout off about something you know NOTHING about...do your research, get your facts straight and then form an opinion with weight to it.
Nothing is more frusterating then people spewing out misinformation and/or not even caring to enlighten themselves with real facts.
