Its kind of hard to meet people here, but since your recreational enjoyments seem to pretty
on par with the likes of many, you actually might find it quite easy! I'm not sure about
specific 'get togethers' but I will try and give you some of my recommendations! As for music,
The 40 has a wide variety of bands playing almost every weekend, its a big open bar with a
nice stage and sound system....definitely a decent place to go! The Double Decker also has
a wide variety of musicians play there and is an awesome environment. Lots of interesting
walks of life, young and old frequent there, so your bound to meet someone over a beer!
The North Hill Inn hosts bands a couple times a month also, usually of the metal variety
if that's what you're in to! Also, SUDS at the university.. a place I know really nothing
about, but its likely worth checking out, given your interests and demographic. Another pub
worth popping in for a beer is Clancy's. Super laid back environment, with pool tables and such.
There is hockey 'beer leagues' that play through out the winter at indoor arenas and at least 3
or 4 outdoor rinks that are open to anyone. I'm pretty sure there is actually 2 outdoor rinks
off Willowdale, one for just skating and one for sticks and pucks (might be the same all over
the city, i'm not sure). At the end of Grand Valley road (just before the over pass thingy)
in the winter, is a snowboard park! Its not a legit ski hill, but there is tons of rails,
jumps, space to board and lots of other lovers of snowboarding, if you're interested in snow sports. Hopefully some of
these suggestions help give you insight about how to enjoy yourself in Brandon and hopefully
steer you the right way to meeting people similar to you!
