I am very sorry to announce that the Grand-children have stolen me away this coming weekend for a Birthday get together at the lake. Those family times are so special as we all know. But we are going to be at Coffee Culture on Sunday Aug.27th at 2 PM. Look forward to meeting you all then. You can inbox me if you have any comments or ideas as to how you feel about this adventure.

I now fall into the category of senior citizen (turned 55 last year), but I just don't relate to people my age/older. You talk about your kids and grand children, but I simply have no connection. I've never had children or grandchildren. I don't care for golf or other "seniors" type activities. My idea of relaxation would be spending a day at Gimli watching the drags. I'll never be able to afford to retire because the company pension barely pays out enough to cover groceries (< $200/month) Guess the point of this is that not every senior citizen fits the mold of having family and being comfortably retired.

I don't have children, or grandchildren either - don't think you are the only one. But I still go for coffee if anyone else wants to

Try Dauphin. I call this place The Fishbowl Called Dauphin. I absolutely refuse to get involved because it will be all over town within days.  
 
Meeting someone is not the problem. Meeting someone who is not desperate and will do anything, is the problem.  
 
I was once asked where all the decent men were. This one is at home, after 4:30, I don't go out, I am making supper, doing work as I am self employed.  
 
Apparently, I am told, meeting a man with teeth is no easy feat either. I have all my teeth.  
 
61 is the new 81! I never hurt like this at 41.

People don't want to believe men and women can be just friends. And if a couple does hook up, they tend to forget the single friends they had before.  
That's why some of us prefer our furry 4-legged friends.

When I turned 60 I thought my life was basically over. I was isolated and alone at home all the time. Then I decided I had to get a life.  
 
I am a senior lady and I now go to as many outings and events as I can. I go to hockey games, dances, concerts etc always alone. I have even been known to dance by myself at a dance because I don't have anyone to dance with. (the crazy lady on the dance floor!) But I am enjoying the music so who cares?  
My next outings will be the Forever Young Club dance on Nov 10 then a hockey game on the 19th.  
 
It's hard at times to do all these things alone but I have courage and persevere. I've met some nice people along the way too.  
 
Now I enjoy my life instead of sitting home.  
I found out there is life after 60!  
 
I am still trying to get to the coffee meet ups but they usually fall on a Sunday that I am working. I will keep watching for updates.

I am very sorry to announce that I cannot make my co,commitments to meet every Sunday at Coffee Culture. I did get the group started & met some wonderful people there after. However I went back to work & do odd shifts per week, If someone one else wants to pick it up And post the time frames on here. I would be more than willing to attend if I wasn't working.. I am sad that things turned out this way, but I am happy to be back at work. Lets keep this event going somehow..... Kitty

Dauphin is very clicky, cliquey, cliquish, whatever. I am not from here, so, I am denied entry. Outsiders are simply not allowed in.

Do you mean outsiders are not allowed in, in Dauphin or Brandon? Or both?  
I grew up in Dauphin. I never noticed there was a problem with cliquishness (is that a word?).

You do not see it unless you are from outside. Outsiders are simply not allowed in. Everyone is very friendly, make no mistake. I have had other outsiders tell me this as well.
