My daughter has a school project that involves iron oxide powder. I know I can order some through amazon but does anyone know if I can buy it in Brandon?

Magnetic Slime

We are going to be making magnetic slime. The recipe calls for 1/4 cup of powder and I'm sure we'll want more for trial and error purposes. Will Iron Out work for this? Or maybe I should look into iron filings.

I just googled the project. Maybe a craft store will carry iron filings, if not maybe call a few of the welding shops in town, they may be able to have some lieing around the work benches.
Also I noted on youtube there is a tutorial on How to make magnetic slime without Iron Filings and Borax.

Be careful on the source of iron filings you may find. Iron filings sourced from a machine shop that resurfaces brake drums and brake rotors may have trace amounts of asbestos.

Although there has been alternate products used other than asbestos in brake linings for some years now, many older vehicles, as well as some replacement brake linings still use asbestos. Just a word of caution.

Michaels does not carry iron filings..maybe walmart? I did the infamous google search and there is a few DIY of making your own iron filings.

Feedmill uses iron oxide as a feed ingredient and should be able to set you up...not sure if it's the same stuff you're looking for but it's easy to check it out and it's pretty cheap

Try any company that provide school supplies. Maybe Christie's Office Plus, Staples, etc.
