Well, are you looking for a continuous piece, or will you be piecing things together? If you want something continuous, you might be forced to shell out a bit of cash.
So, some suggestions:
1. Furniture stores. Mattresses come wrapped in plastic, if you call they can and will save stuff like that for you if you can pick up quickly. I've gotten very large boxes that way. You might need to tape pieces together? You will need to buy tuck tape or some other type of weather-resistant tape. It runs about $10 a roll, then how many rolls will you need?
2. Construction sites/contractors. Sometimes left overs will just be tossed. Again, you will need to piece it together potentially.
3. Used building supply stores might have remnant plastic/vapour barrier you can get for cheap. There are two such stores in Brandon.
4. Place an ad on ebrandon classifieds, maybe someone has something they will donate.
5. Vapour barrier. You can buy vapour barrier on a roll starting at around $35 a roll. Depending on what you need, it might do the trick, and you can tape your joints again if needed.
6. You can buy large (30x50 foot tarps) for about $120. That would have the advantage of being a continuous piece that may or may not be large enough for your use.
