Hopefully this will be concluded soon without further loss of life but is it probable that the two suspects stole or hijacked a vehicle along their route and then dumped the original vehicle at Gillam. Maybe doubling back or heading for a larger town/city where they would not be so noticeable.

This is the update from the RCMP earlier today:  
 
Information update for July 28, 2019 - RCMP continues search for suspects  
As the search for Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky continues, we are able to provide the following update:  
There have been no new sightings of the suspects and no new information that would indicate that the suspects have fled the area.  
RCMP officers have completed their canvass of Fox Lake Cree Nation and will now focus their efforts on completing the canvass of homes in the Town of Gillam. To date, over 250 homes have been visited by investigators.  
In the areas surrounding Gillam, officers are searching cottages, cabins, waterways, and along the rail line for any signs of the suspects. This search of remote areas is being conducted both on foot and in the air.  
The Royal Canadian Air Force began their assistance with the search on July 27 and will continue to provide assistance throughout the day.  
Investigators have now received over 200 tips in the last 5 days. None have established that the suspects are outside of the Gillam area. However, the RCMP continues to remind the public that it is possible the suspects inadvertently received assistance and are no longer in the area. It is also possible that they have changed their appearance.  
Canadians with tips about the suspects should immediately contact their local police of jurisdiction. Multiple tips of sightings have been posted to social media in the last few days and not directly reported to police. If the tips are valid, it can create a substantial delay in the response by police and be detrimental to the overall investigation.  
It is critical that all Canadians remain vigilant for Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky. If they are spotted, do not approach, call 9-1-1 or your local police immediately.

And from within the last hour:  
 
Multiple RCMP resources are being sent to York Landing, Manitoba, to investigate a tip that the two suspects are possibly in, or near, the community. A heavy police presence can be expected in the area. We will continue to update you as information becomes available. Please do not disclose officer locations by posting photos of our officers to social media.

For everyone who doesn't know the area, York Landing is a remote reserve that is only accessed by rail, air, or ferry. In winter there is an ice road in. So obviously these boys must my following the rail line. It is not a wilderness to be in without any survival training. There is literally no place to go from there but the wilderness, or follow the rail line through few more reservations to Thompson. These guys will not blend in and will likely be met with some hostility walking into these communities. Hopefully they survive to face their charges for the sake of the victims families.

Line likely works very well for their purposes. Not much chance of being seen by passing traffic though I am a bit surprised that the police dogs are not finding them if they are following the track.  
 
They left their Walmart jobs because it wasn't exciting enough. I wonder if fighting the bugs and scavenging through garbage for something to eat is exciting enough for them?
