Disposing of little propane tanks

I have a couple of the little green Coleman propane tanks from the summer that I'd like to dispose of. On it, it says recycle when available, but I'm not sure whether I can put it in our blue bin with all of our other recyclables. I've tried calling the city, but can't seem to find the right person to ask. Does anyone know the proper way to dispose of these? Any help is appreciated!

Take them to the dump. Any bin you have in your lane is unsafe for these. If you go to the dump they let you drop them off for free. Right as soon as you get into the dump on the right hand side is where you drop them off. Just talk to the scale operator.

the sanitation department? There definitely should be someone able to answer this question for you.

So what do you do if you have neighbours who let these mini tanks roll around their yards? And who to report to, the fire department? Wish people would be more responsible with their stuff!
