Hoping someone can help me out! I have a pair a Elecro Voice Sentry V speakers that recently developed a problem. It sounds like the tweeter in one speaker is buzzing or or crackling.  
 
Is there anyone that can properly diagnose a problem and offer a solution? I normally just get rid of speakers when they develop problems, but I’ve developed a fondness for these, so I’d like to repair, if possible.  
 
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!  
 
Also, wouldn’t it be nice to have a small group of local vintage stereo enthusiasts to share experience / information?

It's been a while since I've been down to Aurora audio on rosser but the last time I was wally was still fixing stuff on the bench, I'd say stop by but this covid situation kind of puts the damper on that, maybe try giving them a call ?

You could try cleaning any connections inside the speakers of dust. If there are any screws around one of the speakers or a control dial or in the back where the speaker wire goes in undo them and blow off the dust. I have an old pair where I had to take off the tweeter and blow the dust off the crossover thing that connects to all the speakers and the other one I took the connection off in the back and blew the dust off of that connector.

Swap speakers to confirm speaker or amp. If speaker, disconnect suspect tweeter. If tweeter, swap tweeters to confirm tweeter or crossover. If crossover, non polarized electrolytics are suspect .

I feel pretty dumb right now. I always clean the pots on my amps & receivers, but totally forgot to clean the pots on my speakers!  
 
Cleaned them today and the problem appears to be fixed! Easy peasy!

Is there anyone local that repairs old stereo equipment? I took an amp to two different local shops and both times, the results were terrible. I ended up taking it to Don Voth in Wpg. Don is awesome, but not convenient!  
 
Are there any local enthusiasts that may be able to diagnose and/or repair?
