I may have come across how to deter wood ticks, quite by accident. I'm the lady with the white bike who picks garbage in the bushes, and along the long- grass highways of the north hill in Brandon, for 3 to 4 hours daily. Typically, in prior years, each day when I've been out picking garbage, I have to check my pant legs often, and usually find a tick walking up. This year, since thaw till now, I've had only one tick who was hardly moving on my pant leg. The only thing I've changed is washing my socks, pants and long sleeve shirt in liquid Tide with Downy, instead of the regular liquid Tide. I hope someone who spends a lot of time in the long grass and bushes will give it a try, and let me know if they have the same good luck.
