New to the area and searching for a campground within an hour(ish) of Brandon that has the following:  
 
- electric sites  
- potable water/showers/bathrooms  
- river/lake for fishing and swimming  
- most importantly - a campground that has trees/shade/privacy.  
 
Nothing more confusing than seeing a "campground" that is an open field. It's difficult to determine on maps if the area is well treed or offers privacy.

SPruce woods was really nice, went in June. If you go to manitobaparks.com and click the parks reservation service link it will bring up all the provincial park campgrounds. From there you can get photos of each site.

Turtle Mountain Provincial Park has a few lakes with camping that would fit your bill.

Everything you are looking for. Very private and good fishing, trails for hiking and full service sites and showers etc.

All seem to be decent options. Minnedosa shows a field for camping, or for at least some of the spots

Souris’s Victoria Park campground checks all the boxes and has a pool. Great place!

You mention you are new to the area.  
Take a visit to the Ruverbank Discovery Centre just off Kircaldy Drive and they have all local information pamphlets ,booklets ,maps for the area as well as other provinces etc.  
Great place to find out where local campgrounds are, fishing,boating etc lots of information.  
Worth the visit.

We really enjoy Shoal Lake Lakeview Campground.  
 
Depending on the spot there can be excellent shade and good privacy, view of the lake, boat launch, treated swimming pond, free very well kept showers and washrooms. Serviced and unserviced sites. It’s also about a 5 minute walk to grocery or convenience store even though you would never know it.  
 
Wood available, volleyball by the beach.  
 
We love it especially with kids but make reservations! It’s been (as with all campgrounds) very busy this year and touch and go with sites.
