Have been making Sat. road trips to various places in SW Manitoba throughout the summer and we have been asking questions about road conditions on various highways as real information from people that have driven these routes recently is the best information we can get. So, please help us again as our next trip may be to Killarney.  
 
What is the condition of Hwy 23 eastbound from Hwy 10 to the junction with Hwy 18?  
 
What is the condition of Hwy 18 from Killarney north to where it meets Hwy 2?

Hwy 18 from Killarney to Ninette is good. From Ninette to Hwy 2 is pretty rough. Can’t help you with 23 from Hwy 10 east to #18.

I travel 23 to my sister's from #10. Met my niece in Ninette today. The highway isn't great but certainly isn't bad. It's a bit worse on the other side of Ninette, towards Swan Lake, then isn't bad again. A couple of years ago, there were places where the road had pretty much crumbled and was only gravel/ dirt, but it's been patched and is all pavement now.  
Edited to add: If you want the best highway, you are probably best to continue on 10 to just south of Boissevain, and then take #3 over to Killarney.

Nothing wrong with 18 from Ninette to 2. In fact if your going to Killarney from Brandon the quickest way is 10, 2 and 18.

No argument on the quickest route from Brandon to Killarney but Compared to most other roads, it’s not hard to find a few things wrong with HWY 18 between Ninette and HWY 2. There are a some worse roads in sw MB but I would say it ranks closer to the bottom than the top for road conditions in the area.

Well I drive it every week and I am unsure what is so wrong with it. Is it the occasional surface crack that bothers you? Condition wise it's better than coming across 23 from Minto, however I believe they patched all the blow outs from the spring. It's Manitoba the highways are all old and in need of repair/resurfacing but if you think 18 is bad you haven't been a real rough Manitoba highway.

For the best/smoothest ride, take Highway 10 past Boissevain to Highway 3. Might take an extra 10-15mins, especially with the current construction North of Minto, but your suspension will thank you.

Even though it will be a slightly longer route we will drive Hwy 10 south to Hwy 3 to get to Killarney and return the same route as we prefer to drive on the Hwy's with better road conditions - newer car! Your responses have been very helpful in our route decision. May have questions about another route to somewhere else soon.
