I just don't understand people that move and don't change their address. or like me changed everything to electronic that I rarely get mail at all.  
 
It is so easy. Phone, drop in, e-mail and websites.  
 
Especially banks and government.  
 
I get so much mail and see mail from other apartments in the building for people who don't live here any more. They are put on the shelf when you come in the door.  
 
There is bank statements, confidential stuff even cheques that come to these people that they won't ever get.  
 
it actually gets annoying after awhile getting this crap. I use to put wrong address and put back into the mail box but i don't even do that now. i just put it on the shelf (shelf nothing to do with post) and where it goes from there who knows.  
 
and unfortunately i don't care anymore.

eighteen months ago. We had the same mailing address for forty years. My wife and I made a mailing list of everyone we could think of. Divided up the list and either electronically or over telephone changed our mailing address. Was a ten hour procedure at least. It took some companies, several billing cycles for the address changes to take effect. Even after either calling or emailing to inquire why our address had not been switched to the new one. Government agencies and Bell, was the worst. Your first four words, I Just don't understand are very true.

You can change everything you can think of on your own, and then go and pay $90 and have your mail forwarded for a year, then you'll see if you miss anything. We bought our house in 2021 and still receive mail from the previous owner pretty regularly, like you said, even some important looking mail like things from banks, government, etc. I used to put RTS on each one and put in a mail slot somewhere but after 2+ years that's not my problem anymore

We too invested a lot of time changing our address and also had our mail fwd for a year. There probably were a few we forgot but figured it out over time with the mail being forwarded to us.  
 
BUT there were 2 that were out of our control. We must have gone to the bank 4x to have my son's address changed. They correctly changed the rest of our family but the bank did not. Despite doing it online AND in person, it was their error, not ours and someone finally figured out why (it was a click box on their end in their computer system). But it did take repeated attempts.  
 
Also there was an online company I periodically order from and they would deliver to our old address. That also took repeated phone calls and emails to get that one changed. It was not for lack of effort.  
 
Its been 6 years and only in the past year do we not receive the old owners mail but it was just random things that were forgotten like an alumni magazine for a University etc.
