I don't know if it's the same, but I've bought discounted items (shown alongside the new ones) before. A heater with a broken plastic footing, and a washing machine who's only issue seems to be the normal cycle has long periods of no agitation. Easy to bypass by only using the heavy or quick cycles.
The only issue I've ever had was with a Honeywell humidifier that failed 5 days outside of the 30 day return window. Forget how much I paid for it, but I'll never buy Honeywell again (I contacted them, but never heard back).
Which seems odd since alot of their stuff is covered by at least a one year warranty at other department stores.
