Tributes to your Dad
6/19/2009 at 8:55 PM
I have the best Dad ever.
He played baseball and football with us on the lawn, never letting us know how tired he was after a demanding job all the day long.
No matter what, he took the time to be with us. If the neighbor's lawn looked perfect and his didn't quite, he didn't bat an eye, but he kept it looking amazing, nonetheless, knowing he would spend time with his kids in lieu of the perfect lawn, but never shabby.
He taught us about generosity, diplomacy, and taking the high road when things got rough. He never uttered a swear word, but now that we are older, we KNOW he knows those words. His restraint was all about respect for his young family during our growing up years. That to me is classy.
He taught us about nature's greatest gifts in nature, taking us on mile long nature hikes and teaching us about life's great miracles, whether song, nature or just hanging out together. He embraced Brandon History with us, teaching us the important roots that bind this family.
He indulged us with small and important treats, whether a dip at the Ice Cream Store or a family drive in the Country to help us just be together on a sunny Sunday.
We discovered mountains and valleys and everything in our backyard of Brandon to appreciate what surrounds us.
He taught us that our Mom was and still is the light of his life and that we must respect & love her, as does he, as he sees her as the most important connection, never thinking about himself and always thinking about her.
He is a true example of a classy gentleman and never steered us wrong in his wisdom and love for family and the experiences he created for us kids, but he was very cool Dad while we grew up.
We have had an amazing Dad.
He is truly a man to look up to and the sad thing is, he doesn't know this, as he did what he did to make a fantastic family life, it was just in his charachter.
I LOVE my Dad and will certainly let him know this Father's Day, how much he truly means to me.
