No offence intended to any of our wonderful seniors, and as my mother (80) will freely admit, her reflexes are not what they used to be, very good driver, obeys the rules, drives to Brandon once a week to volunteer for a good cause:
when you're 20 you have the reflexes of a cat
when you're 40 you have the reflexes plus the experience
at 60 what you've lost in physical response time, you've now tripled your experience and added very valuable common sense
NOW YOU"RE 80, God willing you still have your faculties and the common sense to know when it's time to hang em up (we all get to this point in life)
But don't you all think they've earned the respect and patience from the rest of us, that includes on the road: where's the fire anyway.
Lastly, Doug...as I previously posted, our older generation IS out there and in increasing #'s, that's far more important than faster point A's to B's and it's the increase in our overall traffic volume that dictates our road improvements: more maintenance dollars spent on a proper maintenance program means better roads for all of us(where do you buy your shocks...I can sure feel those potholes at 40kph)
Sounds like I'm starting to get snotty...sorry, but let's face it folks, if 50 basically keeps us under 70, wouldn't it stand to reason that 40 will keep us under 60 (generally speaking)
And Doug,...the lowest common denominator of abilities??? that doesn't sound very nice
