does this scream DISCRIMINATION?
5/26/2010 at 9:08 AM
ok people i need your opinion/advice.
am i off my rocker or do i have a valid point?
I'm a Canadian..... BORN AND RAISED here in Brandon.
there is a job available and it is something i would LOVE to do.
I've been waiting for over a year for this to come open.
I spoke to someone within the company/division about applying.
They advised me that my application wouldn't even be considered because i don't speak SPANISH!
PARDON?
i don't recall having the option when i was in school to take a Spanish class.
French yes.
Has Canada become a Spanish speaking country while i was asleep at night and this is something i didn't know.
SO, i can't apply for a position in my home town because i don't speak the language of another country.
hmmmmmmmmm
what's next? Korean, Farsi etc.
my point.......... A Canadian woman can not get a job here in her own home town because i can't communicate with someone from another country.
aren't they supposed to learn our language?
If we moved to Mexico for example..... would we not have to learn Spanish to communicate with them?
Does anyone really think that anyone there would learn English for us?
To me is screams discrimination!
i'm all for other cultures being here in Canada!
I love the diversity in our city and our schools!
But when i am passed over for a job that i could do well and would LOVE to be at because i don't speak a language that was never an option for me to learn here in my own country.................
hello!!!
tell me if i'm wrong or if i have a bad attitude.
please i'd love to hear what you think
