Has anyone joined this and bought things? It is a live auction site where you can purchase brand name electronics, gift cards, even cars for pennies on the dollar. Apparently there are Honda Civics going for less than $2000. The catch is that you must pay for your bids. It's $0.60 per bid (you purchase them up front, looks like the initial sign up requires buying 300 bids, but at a discounted rate of $159). But by the looks of the prices some things are going for (MacBook pro for $14.06), it looks to be worth it.
I'm just always leery of these kinds of things. As they say, if it looks too good to be true, it usually is.
By the way, if you end up not winning your bid, the money you spent on the bids can go towards purchasing the item at the retail price. But if you spent $100 on bids and can't afford the retail price, you're out that $100.
I started to register, thinking I could get a better look at what items are up for bid, but it took me to a page where I have to enter my personal info, including credit card number. I don't want to go that far yet, and now it won't let me go to any page on their site but that page (therefore I can't post a link, I don't want my info shown).
Can anyone verify that this is legit and worth the initial $159 investment?
