Don't worry about the survey callers...

First, answer like an partly deaf, simple minded old person who's starving for conversation. Feel out what they are "fishing" for, without breaking character. (I love that part) Get them and yourself repeating everything at least twice (that gets them "on the hook", thinking you're the ideal prey). Then start giving the false info on the minor background stuff (like postal codes with one letter wrong, wrong address number, different maiden names and crap like that). Continue on, by beginning to act confused halfway and start mentioning key things like "direct deposits" and that your daughter should be doing all that "on line things" for you. But you then cautiously offer the banking information (asking silly questions and assurances from the scammers), but first you need to get your wallet/purse/bankbook/credit card from the bedroom. When you ask them to hold on the line to go "up stairs" and tell them, "it may be a few minutes to take the stair lift, up and down"...
... that's when you put the phone in the drawer and go on with your day. (finish your meal, go back to your show, take a shower, and so on...)
I will guarantee you, they will stay on for at least ten minutes. My personal record was over fifteen before I "heard the phone" make that announcement to hand up.
Waste their time and they do eventually stop calling. I see a lot less unfamiliar numbers now than the previous years and I never needed to sign up on that "Do not call list". It doesn't stop new scammers from calling, but you won't see the same number coming back. Surveys are kinda fun too. Interrupt them early on like on the third or fourth question, like you need to "let Mr. Pussy outside" that he's "grinding up against you legs and it will only take a moment" (or something like that to excuse yourself). Then put the phone in the drawer. If enough people would screw with the callers and scammers, this would put an end to this whole telemarketing bull$h!+ once and for all. Your time means nothing to them. However, their time means everything to them. And it's kinda fun, everyone should try it. Don't get angry, upset or annoyed... get gratification and satisfaction. But remember folks, they won't stay on long, unless you dangle a big payout in front of them. What's the worst that can happen? ....they call you back? Great! More of their time to waste! Bring it on! I'll keep playing the helpless, clueless, forgetful senior. Game on!
Just my opinion, I could be wrong. " |

I don't do it to them, because they're just doing a crappy job that they probably don't want to be at. I will just tell them "I don't have time. Please remove me from your list." and they're usually pretty good. But oh my lord, the scammers? I love your approach and have done similar things myself. You are sure correct about that, works every time! " |

Not to be insulting Truck Chicks opinions towards survey callers, but they are still part of the annoying telemarketer problem. Granted, some are Canadian citizens employed to "make a living", but they are still interrupting our home life activities with useless calls. Those particular people are usually "on the clock", so they still get a paycheck. ...No bonus though, but I like to think I'm giving them a mental break before giving up and the autodialer throws out another number that they are forced to convey the scripted pitch to yet again, another upset person answering the phone. Personally, I would love to see some of those call centers go broke from their overhead costing too much. Like I said... "their time means everything to them". Make it not profitable or have the costs be too high for any business/organizations to contract these telemarketer companies out. Or better yet, have our government create a tax law assisted or forced upon by the phone companies to make their calls cost more ...not less. I would be so happy to never hear from a political party, consumer survey, charities, Westman Communications, MTS, the University Alumni, Canadian Blood Service and every other bloodsucking, information seeking, wanting me to upgrade our service/package, money hustlers EVER AGAIN! And I'm pretty sure that they're many people out there and on here that feel the same way as I do. Leave us alone! If they don't... we'll politely start messing with them and wasting their valuable time and hopefully ...profit margins.
I can't remember the exact quote or what movie it's from, but it goes like this: "The world needs dicks: Pu$$ies don't like dicks, because they get f"(ked by dicks all the time. But dicks also f"(k @$$holes. Pu$$ies may think they can deal with @$$holes their own way. But the only thing that can f"(ck an @$$hole ....is a dick, with some balls."
Sorry for the crudeness... But that metaphor holds so much truth behind it. However, please don't take any of this too seriously.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
