With the legalization of marijuana inevitable, there are a few questions I have for someone who understands the topic.  
 
1. When it is legal, does that mean anyone can smoke it anywhere at any time, similar to cigarette smokers? Will bar patrons be able to go outside for a joint as they do a cigarette?  
 
2. Will Wheat King fans be able to smoke a joint outside between periods with cigarette smokers?  
 
3. Will my neighbours be able to smoke pot outside any time they wish, while my grandchildren who play outside can smell it? (Not saying my neighbours smoke pot). Just a hypothetical question.  
 
4. Would the passenger in a vehicle be allowed to smoke pot legally?  
 
Will there be designated places where people can smoke legally such as indoors at personal property, or marijuana cafes?  
 
I want to be informed on this, hence my questions.

The long and the short of the answer is no one knows until the legislation is brought forward in 2017 or whenever the liberals get around to it. Right now it is still illegal everywhere but enforcement may be at the discretion of law enforcement

...I would expect the laws to be similar in scope to alcohol. Just as you can't have open liquor, I would imagine you couldn't partake except at legal vendors and your private residence, etc. You can't smoke anywhere public indoors so that's out. What your neighbour does on his deck is none of your business (as long as no laws are being broken).  
 
Don't speculate too much. The government will tells us what they are planning and it still hasn't been passed into law.

legalized the idea is to follow a protocol similar to Colorado. The issues you have mentioned will be an issue for some. I smoke and I believe in complete discretion myself.

Interesting that they announced legalization on 4 20. I'm not certain that it was a coincidence.

don't care what anyone does on their own deck. But if you smoke marijuana on your deck, can you be sure your marijuana smoke, originated from your deck, does not enter my private property? Do I, as a neighbour, not have a right to breathe air that doesn't smell like marijuana?

...you would have as much right to complain about the smell as you would with cooking odors or back yard fires. If it is a serious nuisance then a call to the police would result in them asking the neighbour to stop...or you could wait 3 minutes for the smell to dissipate. Better yet, talk to your neighbour and ask if he could refrain from smoking if the kids are outside but would you do that if he was smoking a cigarette? His yard, his business.

smoke doesn't permeate like marijuana smoke.

Is the burning of rubber tires in a backyard prohibited? I'm curious.

...smoke is smoke. It permeates. The fact that it may be marijuana won't effect how it permeates.  
 
I would imagine that burning tires would be considered excessive as well as illegal but that would be a question for the police or a bylaw officer.

It would be excessive to burn a tire and the odor is putrid. But it is my backyard and my business, as you said earlier, right?  
 
So what you are saying is that I am simply supposed to accept the smell of marijuana? I'm not saying this has happened, but easily could happen.

Your worries about having to smell the weed from your backyard. Have you ever smelt a cigarette being burned. Distgusting and ww've managed to survive with that indoors and outdoor for the past hundreds and thousands of years so im sure you will figure out a way to deal with the weed. Not like ya call the cops everytime ya catch a wiff of a skunk. Or when the sulfer plant or dumps blowing into town. Not like the air smells greeat all the time either.

I wouldn't suggest Jamaica as a travel destination. You wouldn't like it.

be interested in how they modify urine drug tests that are routinely given to workers in all fields. Marijuana stays in the system long after the effects have worn off.

Here are my thoughts and answers on the topic.

--No. I assume it will fall in the same category as alcohol. You have to consume it in designated areas or residence.  
 
2. Will Wheat King fans be able to smoke a joint outside between periods with cigarette smokers?  
--No. Can I go outside with my beer and drink outside the building?  
 
3. Will my neighbours be able to smoke pot outside any time they wish, while my grandchildren who play outside can smell it? (Not saying my neighbours smoke pot). Just a hypothetical question.  
--Yes. There is nothing stopping them consuming alcohol while grand kids play outside. Educating the children on its effects and potential dangers like alcohol will become the new norm.  
 
4. Would the passenger in a vehicle be allowed to smoke pot legally?  
--No. I can't legally have a beer while my buddy drives.

--Smoke cafe shops would be ideal for this situation. Personal property should be legal. At the bars outside in the smoking areas, etc.

Employer's will not likely have to change the way they handle testing for imparement at all. Just because it is legal to injest something does not mean it is OK to do at work or have in your system at work. Even prescription drugs can ru you afoul of company drug and imparement policies

I know tax revenue is a definite plus of legalizing marijuana.  
 
But there have also been some negatives and are shown in the link I have provided. Here are some highlights.  
 
In 2014, when retail marijuana businesses began operating, that in only a year:  
 
– Marijuana-related traffic deaths increased 32 percent  
– Almost 20 percent of all traffic deaths were marijuana related compared to only  
– 10 percent less than five years ago  
– Marijuana-related emergency department visits increased 29 percent  
– Marijuana-related hospitalizations increased 38 percent  
– Marijuana-related calls to the rocky mountain poison center increased 72 percent  
– Diversion of Colorado marijuana to other states increased 25 percent  
 
In 2013, the year marijuana was legalized in Colorado:  
 
– Colorado teenagers now rank #3 in the nation for marijuana use and 56 percent higher than the national average  
– Colorado college-age group now rank #2 in the nation for marijuana use and 54 percent higher than the national average.  
 
I hope the negatives are considered equally with the positives.

understand your excellent point. So what you're saying is that what I do in my own backyard is NOT just my business?  
 
Most tires re not 40 lbs, and they produce excellent heat when spring and summer nights become cool.  
 

I can picture you and the grand kids sitting around your tire fire with your gas masks on, tire smoke is like tear gas, good one,and your correct the average car tire is only 22 pounds but still does burning 22 pounds of tire compares to a couple grams of pot, not reasonable at all, and before you and the kids get your tires and marshmallows out, better check the fire pit laws, tires are a no no, seasoned wood and charcoal only.
