so did anyone find out where the single men are ?  
where they go for coffee?  
has anyone thought of having a meeting place?  
I am newly divorced .. separated for 4 yrs now and just wondering how to meet .. where to meet?  
gee I am getting brave....... or bold.  
Just would like someone to go to movies with or dinner or meet for brunch sometimes..... we both pay our own.....

Single guy who freely admits that as times passes, more hiding takes place. Less and less comfortable about approaching people.

I have been married for over 30 years and at least 10 of them were blissful....not necessarily in a row!  
I like this thread because I hear women in my circle that are either single, divorced, widowed or whatever continually discuss this.  
Where do you go to meet a good man? Are they in the bar? Are they at the grocery store? Are they volunteering somewhere? Are they going to be at a friends bbq function?  
It brings up a valid point... Where can one go to find a mate and not just a date?  
More and more people are turning to the internet but you need to be extremely careful of trolls on there.  
When I was in the dating scene we had a local lounge that had a dress code, was slightly pricey and was geared to adults 30+ that were not looking for a roll in the hay but a life partner.  
Maybe we need such a place again????

I decided it was cheaper and easier to get a dog. She's a great listener...cheap to feed..she talks back sometimes but then I give her a little shock collar zap and it's all good. Lol

I am meeting wonderful men at the Lions Club and in my Church. There are also some charity events that I get involved with where I have also met interesting men that I may ask out later. (I am just now getting back into the scene after becoming a widow.)  
 

Try Canadian Tire. I was approached there by a nice man...in the tools section...lol.

and one thing I was told many times is women hate when men talk to them, they do not go out in public just so a man can speak to them.  
So after a couple of decades I gave up on the whole meeting someone idea.

I long ago gave up on hope for romantic companionship and have instead opted to focus on my own education, finances, and exploration. A bonus is that I only have myself to answer to for all these facets of life. I may luck out and meet a wonderful woman among my travels, but won't unduly stress about it or assume such outcome as I tend to have a shy demeanor. Either way, I'll have a fun and productive life.

I think the woman I was talking to was married..not sure though..when she was walking away I was looking at her bum and forgot all about checking out the ring finger. :-)

Why are the men on here saying they gave up?  
 
Breaking the ice is really awkward for us to, just give us a minute to get comfortable. Just be laid back and remember we're grilled our whole lives about strange men, so its hard to just be at ease sometimes. Doesn't mean we don't want you to gently make good conversation and put us at ease. If that makes any sense  
 
If you're just blunt & talk about looks that's pretty boring & somewhat creepy, but talking about something else is good, just don't be pushy and give it a decent shot to try to break the ice instead of crumbling the instant there is ice

I totally get why men don't approach women in public (bar scene aside of course). It's super intimidating to put yourself in the line of possible (and most likely) rejection. It's easy to sit here on my couch and say, "hey, if I saw a cute guy at the grocery store, I'd go up and say hi", but when that instance presents itself, the insecurities take over, at least they do for me. Happened to me at Sobeys last week...super handsome man smiled at me and I totally chickened out. My possible loss but I guess I preferred that over rejection.

Yes I think we need a place like you just described. but how about at a coffee shop someplace. We can all meet for coffee one day. afternoon ? or evening?.....  
where and when...... doesn't mater what age group although I am 64 . but we no matter what age could just get together and younger go to the younger table ?  
anyone willing to say where or when?

it looks like 'the Dock' Saturdays at 7 pm is where singles hang out? in the lounge part? I think.  
 
I'd really like to try to walk in there Saturday night.... i'll see if I can get brave enough... I am not one to 'walk into a bar by myself so I might just go into the dining room instead.....we'll see.
