This is more of a vent. Why are people still travelling? Everyday we are being told to stay home, yet snowbirds and some certain politicians, others, are going on vacations. Now there are stricter travel restrictions in place and people are whining that they are having difficulty returning to Canada. And then having to quarantine and pay hotel and testing costs upon return. You don’t say???! Sorry, but I don’t have sympathy. I want to travel too but am following the direction.

Although I wish they would have implemented this and stuck with it from day 1 and things would have been better. The virus is moved by people. It wasn’t here until people brought it here.  
 
But it is what it is. The longer people continue with this behaviour the longer this is going to take to be over.

It took them 10 months to decide this??? It seems silly to not close travel for non-essential reasons, but it is amazing how many have chosen to go. The wealthy still won’t care about the $2000 a person, but to the average Joe that should put a stop. We all just need to accept that some things we just won’t be able to do for a while, but hopefully by fall because of that we’ll be closer to returning to ‘normal’

I agree as well...everyone knows the rules and why should our tax dollars pay for them to stay in a hotel because they didn't want to follow those rules.  
Sorry for those who'd like to quarantine at home but that's because to many before you didn't. Sucks when people don't follow the rules doesn't it.  
For all those who say it's my right this is a free country, you are correct but with freedom comes a responsibility. You're not responsible you lose the freedom.  
I hope people will be happy to have MB open up within our borders and support local, businesses are hurting and people need their jobs back. We have to put our wants aside for the time being and just do what's right.  
Pretty simple really but yet here we are a year later with people still complaining about everything.

The snowbirds are the age group we were told that had to be protected. They obviously don’t care. Their income wasn’t affected. Maybe they won’t feel so self entitled when they are trying to get back home.

don't understand why they would allow flying in and out from other countries yet we are to stay home and get fined for different things if we don't do this or that, but it's ok for people to bring covid back here or spread it around. And I highly doubt people were staying home after flying. Maybe some did but not all people flying internationally. Im wondering if they are only making changes because people made a stink about the politicians flying international? i could be wrong.... just seems conviently timed...and they shouldn't have allowed flying international or usa at all espc when all this time we are being told hospitals are overwhelmned and so many carehomes were full of covid and so many in icu and dying...doesn't seem right. Im not saying these things weren't happening on the scale they claimed, but wouldn't it make sense to not allow flying at all if you want to stop the spread or why not as soon as they heard of the new virus...why wait til we have cases here to do something? I honestly think the govt could have stopped alot of the spread or even it coming into Canada last year when they heard of covid before it got here and not let flights keep coming and going and then 'oops'....  
And if a packed airplane of afew hundred people being together for a couple hours flight or more (at least 8 overseas?) then why is having family over dangerous when they have planes full of strangers together for longer time than we would a visit?

It seems it is all about catching up. I know about hindsight and all. But last spring I made masks for my whole family. I have been wearing them since then. But they said don’t wear a mask. That’s worse. One step behind all year. When we went code red I couldn’t understand why they kept the provincial border open. Now they close it. Same with travel restrictions. Couldn’t drive to US but fly. Come on! I read that flights from Haiti had no restrictions. .?..then you hear about officials taking holidays. Our numbers seem to be so much better but I don’t hear much about that. Except up North. Seems they should be focusing up there. They can’t be following any of the rules with the way it is exploding.  
I have a daughter and her families in the states. I bet we will be lucky to see them by Christmas. The vaccines rollout isn’t going so well. They should be utilizing* the same set up they do with the flu shots. It’s ready in place. Having inky Brandon and Winnipeg will take forever. And now a hesitancy for these countries to export. I saw that coming. Wondered why they were doing that when amount were so limited. Canada better make their own.

It seems to me there are two sets of rules for this.  
For the people who are not affected by this, they travel and pretty much do what they want. The people that had their vehicles shipped across the border can drive them back without quarantining when they get back. Not sure about a negative test to cross by land.  
Government employees don’t seem to think they have to do what they are asking everyone else to do.  
This will never end. I am so done with it.

A negative test does have to be produced if crossing at a land border.

Like you said after this post, they need to produce a negative test before being allowed to re-entry.  
 
They are still required to quarantine, but will be permitted to do it at home instead of the hotel. Enforcement/check-ins are going to be stepped up.  
 
They have warned that these are the rules *right now* and that they may change with little to no warning. Unless things change substantively in the near future, I would expect more restrictions to be in place before the influx of people driving back in March (when they usually start flooding back).
