Road trip from Montreal to St John, NL

One of my bucket list trips is the road trip in eastern provinces. I will fly to Montral from Winnipeg. Does it really worth to have road trip or is it better to just fly to some larger cities there and do site seeing in shorter period?
Please give me your tips, whatever you thing I should know before plan for this trip.
Is 3 weeks good time for this Road trip and coming back to Montreal ?

That's a long trip from MTL to St John. Since there is no road the Ferry boat is only option not sure time it takes to leave nova Scotia to get to NFLD.

Newfoundland will add a lot of time and lots to see before that so might want to just do Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia on this trip if you’ve got a three week window.

Personally I love road trips and I mean love lol. If it was me I would drive from here to there, no flying at all. And anytime is good for sure, but really depends on where you wanna go and what you wanna do. If your going straight there and not stopping at any little places on the way or staying the night anywhere then that will be lots. But it’s really what you want, if you can take more time to go then that’s up to you on if you should. I hope you have a great safe trip… ps I’m really jealous lol!!!!

Sounds like fun!
Have never seen Nfld but have driven the corridor from NB/NS to Cape Breton and the scenery's pretty great (mandatory detour around the Cabot Trail).

The times I've taken the ferry on other trips, I've found it to be a fun part of the whole experience as much as I'm guessing the rides drag on a lot for folks that do them a lot. Just had a look and the ferry from Cape Breton to Newfoundland looks like a couple options. One to the nearer side of the island that's considered an extension of the Trans Canada that's 6-8 hours with a good-sized road trip still to St. John's... and another seasonal route that's 16 hours at sea to the port closest to St. John's. Hopefully you can hear from someone first hand that's been on either sailing, but looks like more info at:

Same link above has some info about driving and taking ferry from the Labrador way that I dont know if would or wouldn't be an option for you in one direction or the other?
