Just wanted to let you all know that due to the 8th Street bridge closeing, they have put a marked crosswalk across the street and moved the three way stop down half a block to the city bus depot.  
 
I know I shouldn't actully have to tell you as the signs are up and clearly marked. But I wanted to give the guy the benifit of the doubt when he stopped unnecessarily at the cross walk and ran the stop sign tonight.

It's been like that since last week I think.  

Any idea as to why the stop sign was there in the first place?

That stop sign is the dumbest thing ever ! I could see it being useful when the bridge was functional, but there is no logical reason for it now !

The logical reason is because it has always been a hassle for the city busses to move with traffic there.  
 
Believe me. I've been on a bus when it had to slam on the breaks to not get hit and my ass ended up on the floor.

So the city bus has a chance to turn out of the bus mall. At 12 noon they could sit there for 1/2 an hour if nobody lets them in. Trust me the Brandon drivers that bitch about the busses don't give anyone a break.

but lets do something more permanent, something more aesthetically pleasing? With all the cement barricades used to turn perfectly functioning 2 way streets into one-ways, all the boarded up buildings, and now this? Our downtown is looking pretty dumpy.

It's looking worse than Winnipeg's downtown....  
 
I have seen so many drivers running those stop signs in the last couple of weeks it's really bad.  
 
I am not sure there really is any benefit to help bus traffic move either - I have seen FOUR busses run the signs themselves.
