Planning a road trip out west with my sister this summer. Will be travelling with two boys (5 and 6 yrs old). Likely going as far as Calgary and Edmonton, but not opposed to going further. Any must sees along the way?

Moose Jaw Tunnels
Drumheller museum, and the country side (very pretty)
Calgary Zoo
Lots to see and do in Banff
Calgary Stampede if you are going early July

Heritage park in Calgary is good. Ukrainian village east of Edmonton is good as well fort Edmonton.

If you are into amusement parks, Calaway Park is just west of Calgary off the #1 Trans Canada Highway. Purchase wristbands for a full day of fun. Check their website for discounts/coupons.

I agree with Drumheller, such a neat place, with the Dinosaur Museaum. If you're going further west and like waterfalls, Takakkaw Falls is a must see! So amazing.

there is a fort at cypress hills that is neat and conglomerate cliffs for the kids, great place to stop for a break, its right by maple creek, in between SK & AB

If you go to edmonton, there is a small place called Gibbons with a dinosaur park with robotic dinosaurs that roar and move. My boys loved them.

Buffalo Jump Canyon near Trochu. Beautiful.
Hoodoos are always neat to see. Also the swinging bridge they have there.
And, don't forget Lethbridge. Fort Whoopup and the coolies. Also, Two Guys Pizza is the best place in town.
Franks Slide is interesting too.

I was going to suggest that too, but maybe not for 5 and 6 year olds, probably older would be more interested. There is the Star Trek town tourist booth at Vulcan, AB.
