I will be going to Chicago in July with my husband. Any suggestions on things to do or places to eat?

Chicago last July and it was a nightmare. We really wanted to see some of the city, stop and get food but we were stuck in traffic so badly we ran out of time.  
 
Took us nearly two hours to get from one side to the other because there was so much construction at the time. Plus they happened to be doing road work on either side of the city on the interstate. It sounds like this was abnormal, but not by much, as they can have pretty bad traffic snarl ups due to volume.  
 
So unfortunately I don't have any great ideas for you to see, but be prepared to take extra time for travel so you are not disappointed.  
 
I can't wait until we can try and see some Chicago again! Have fun.

And plan ahead for tolls. They have a ton of them around that area.

I have been through Chicago lots and I always always make time to stop at Gino's east. As seen on man vs food, make sure you have an authentic Chicago deep dish style pizza, all other pizza will seem sub par after.  
 
Other than that I don't honestly know cause I am just driving through but the pizza there is top notch

So much to do, look at getting the Chicago city pass saves u a ton of money... Chicago has a free zoo which is amazing! Lots of places to walk especially the pier have fun and yes have the deep dish pizza

I can't remember the name but there was an awesome pizza place that we went to downtown on the advice of our cabbie you sign your name somewhere (wall, roof, whatever) while you are there. It was delicious and awesome vibe.  
 
The Pier is great, you have to go to the theatre district at night, tones of great shopping on and off the Mag Mile. Enjoy!

The Field Museum & Shedd Aquarium.

You will love Chicago....much to do and it has that mid west America feel....if you are flying give yourself LOTS of time at the airport...take the subway downtown to your hotel...meet some interesting folks along the way.

We are actually driving so does anyone have thoughts on parking? It looks really expensive to park there for a week? We don't plan on using our car once we are there.

My sister was impressed with the architectural river tour . . .

Lots of shows and it is really cool lit up at night, looks neat with all the marquees lit up. The city as a whole is very old style and architecturally interesting to check out downtown

Just been once for a girls weekend. We stayed just off the magnificent mile so could walk or take the bus anywhere. Only did shopping and Navy Pier. Fun area to look around, big Ferris wheel etc. A few of the girls went to Millennium Park and really enjoyed it. Yes, try the pizza.  
 
I always use TripAdvisor "things to do" to find what I want to do.
